Grantham player Nigel Dexter helped a victorious Lincolnshire team take a national pool title at Great Yarmouth on Friday.

After playing all year round in a regional league, Lincolnshire seniors finished joint second with Derbyshire. A play-off was required to see who would go through to the National Finals, and a closely-fought victory saw Nigel’s Lincs team progress.

Lincs Seniors made it through the knockout stages of the Nationals with three 5-3 wins over Northumberland, Essex and Greater Manchester.

In the final, they found themselves up against local rivals Nottinghamshire who won the regional league by a clear five points. But Lincs put in a sterling performance to triumph 5-2, with Nigel winning the final frame to help his county team lift the trophy.
