The Martyn Clark and Dave Youle Memorial Trophy is played for every year and is the Grantham Billiard Club’s main trophy event.

It is played in memory of two local men who tragically lost their lives in a road accident in 1994 – Martyn (22) from Skillington, and Dave from Grantham.

They were both keen snooker players and spent a lot of time at the billiards hall.

The trophy was donated to the club by Dave’s father and has been played for every year since.

Martyn’s sister Lucy said she felt honoured that the boys are remembered every year with such a great event. The doubles knockout competition saw father and son combination Andy and Bryn Hall add their names to the prodigious list of Grantham snooker players who have won the trophy.

The pair previously won the event nine years ago and, bizarrely, Bryn only plays snooker once a year – just in this competition.

In the final, Andy and Bryn defeated Brian Guest and Steve Seymour 3-0.

Pictured with this year’s Memorial Trophy winners, Andy and Bryn Hall, are Martyn’s parents Liz and Pete Clark, sister Lucy Wallace, brother-in-law Kev Wallace, niece and nephew Freya and Kieran Wallace, and Dave’s mother Val and his sister Diane.
