Grantham Squash Club ladies’ team have had a sensational start in their first year having achieved a league and cup double in the Nottinghamshire Ladies’ League.
And not content in winning the Nottinghamshire titles, they also only narrowly missed out on winning the Premier final, losing 3-2 to DL Aspley in a very closely contested final.
Captained by Alison Clare, the team comprised of Katie Wells, Kath Newell, Cathy Kennedy and Liz Milne.
Alison was delighted that the team had won the league, having entered for the first time in more than five seasons.
Alison said: “To encourage new and young players, we had Amy and Kim Newell play in a few matches. They enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to next season.”
Grantham hope to continue their success with their ladies’ team next year and invite any interested female players to contact the Harlaxton Road-based club and speak to Alison.
