Cliffedale Chandlers junior Matt Leete (Kings School) represented England Under 16 Boys’ B Team at the recent Senior Schools Invitational International Championships in Perth, Scotland.

King’s School student Matt, along with team-mate James Hobson, competed against teams from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

The pair made it to the final where they faced the England A Team, but unfortunately they were unable to match their success of earlier rounds as the A Team of Alex Ramsden and Alec Ward won gold, leaving Matt and James to claim Silver.

l Cliffedale Chandlers had three representatives competing at this year’s Under 11-Under 14 National Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

Alexandra Robinson (Walton Girls) competed in the Under 13 Girls on the Saturday, qualifying from her group in second place and progressing to the knockout stages. Unfortunately, that was where her day ended in the individual competition, but she had slightly more success with her doubles partner Chloe Lingard (Grimsby TTC), reaching the quarter-final stage before being knockout by one of the eventual finalists.

The following day it was the turn of Josh Kettle and Frazer Winfield to pit their skills against some of the best boys in the Under 12 category.

Both Chandlers boys had tough groups and, despite giving it their all, they narrowly missed out on progressing from their respective groups, both finishing third.
