Two of the best Lincolnshire under-16 boys’ teams clashed in an Aegon match on Saturday.
The Grantham Tennis Club team consisting of Dom Newcombe, Michael Cragg, Tom White and Joe Patton took on Boston in the local grudge match.
A tight first round of singles matches saw Grantham come off second best despite some great play, with both Dom and Tom losing closely fought matches on tie-breaks.
The second round of doubles saw Grantham recover well but ultimately losing the overall match although the standard of play is rising fast with a commitment to club coaching and the help of performance coach Richard Surtees who is now at the tennis club on a full time basis.
