TENNIS: Grantham club put in strong weekend performances

Grantham Tennis Club’s AEGON matches continued with the under-8s in action against Stamford on Saturday.

The team of Luke and Jacob Cullen, Eve Kimberley and Cameron Anderson made it two wins out of two for the season with a closely fought 18-14 victory.

The under-10s travelled to Market Deeping with the team of Madison Cook, Nitesh Shyam, Sam Hubbard and Jamie Collier, and managed to get the match to a 3-3 scoreline. Nitesh and Sam lost a 10-point tie-break 10-8.

The final match saw the under-14 boys take on Deeping at home where Joe Patton, Thomas White, Joe Patton and Lewis Picker won their second match of the season.

Sunday proved successful for Grantham also, with the under-12 boys enjoying their first win of the season with the team of Aaron Jones, Marco Pierbattisti, Ben Harrison and Leon Barr defeating Deeping.

The under-16 team of Andrew Isaac, Dominic Newcombe, Samuel Chan and Michael Cragg enjoyed a good 10-2 victory at Deeping.

A resounding 72-36 win over Newark in the last winter match for the men’s third team saw a great team performance from David Todd, John Walker, Dale Wright, Barry Preistley, Mike Roys and Simeon Cook.
