TENNIS: Grantham ladies cruise to victory on the road

Have your say

Grantham Tennis Club ladies’ first team played their latest Summer League Division One match at the weekend.

Fielding an extremely strong team, consisting of Charlotte Palul, Mel Bloodworth, Sophie Fletcher, Mel Milner, Lianne Tapson and Sarah Patton, the ladies comfortably managed an 8-1 away win against an extremely competent Louth side.

With just two games remaining, Grantham’s ladies remain top of the division and, if they keep up the good run of form, should go on to lift the title.

l Meanwhile, the men’s thirds played a strong Spalding side at home with the team of captain Colin Walton, Kane Goswell, Paul Kimberley, Jac Heanen, Nigel Birch and Adam Bramley.

With both teams having won three out of three matches, it was to be something of a crunch game, and in the blistering heat it was Spalding who prevailed with a narrow victory.

l Grantham men’s second string took on Wollaton at home in a Nottingham League Division Three match last Sunday.

The team consisted of Ed Milner, Toby King, Jon Cummins, Simon Cormor, Michael Cragg and Josh King. They played some great tennis and managed to comfortably win the match overall.
