Grantham Tennis Club lady veterans defeated Boston away at the weekend.
The team, captained by Liz Frobisher, consisted of Wendy Stewart, Sally Walker and Katherine Garment comfortably beat the home side 6-2 without losing a match, winning 4-0 in one doubles and drawing 2-2 in the other match.
The men’s 3rd team played at home to a strong West Bridgford side on Sunday.
The match was very close in a great display of tennis. After every round there were only several games in it either way. Unfortunately, in the last round of matches West Bridgford managed to just secure victory 62-46. The Grantham side, skippered by David Todd, comprised John Walker, Kane Goswell, Mark Farmer, Dale Wright and Harry Larkin.
Grantham Mini Reds travelled to Boston for a midday start against Tealby Red. The team of Oliver Anderson, Ava Holt, Jack Street and Alexander Petkovic played some great tennis and the matches were very close, but the Tealby side were too strong and clinched victory.
The Mini Oranges travelled to Caunton on Saturday. The team of Jake Cullen and James Jackson lost in a one-sided scoreline despite all the matches being extremely closely contested.
The Mini Greens also visited Caunton to play Farnsfield Rams who they beat easily 8-1 with the team of Finley Jones, Sam Hubbard and Sam Clegg.
Another Green ‘team’ travelled away to Boston and consisted solely of a strong individual called Heidi-Louise Roberts who face Tealby. She played some great tennis and managed to win her match with a great effort.
