TENNIS: Grantham men’s third string whitewash Boston

Grantham Tennis Club men’s third summer team played a strong Boston side at home.

The team consisted of Nigel Birch and Adam Bramley, Paul Kimberley and Rob Start, and Martin Garrett and Tom White.

A great match was played by the Grantham side on a nice, sunny day, and this was reflected by the magnificent scoreline of a 9-0 win.

The team will be looking to carry on their great run of form when they face Spalding away next Saturday.

l Lincolnshire ladies’ over-60s team played a match on the new indoor courts at Arnoldfield earlier this week!

The ladies’ side, consisting of Wendy Stewart, Sue Viscomi, Liz Wadd and Pam Aust, had a difficult game against a strong Avon team.

They played some great tennis and despite being drawn at 1-1 after the first round of rubbers, they went on to claim a 6-2 victory.

l The ladies’ team captained by Jo Carstairs played at home to a strong Lady Bay side.

The team consisted of Jo, Katy Dines, Sue Cox, Liz Stokes, Jo Jones and Holly Anderson and proved too strong for Lady Bay, managing to claim a comfortable16-2 victory in a great match.
