Have your say

Three Grantham Tennis Club mini teams played indoor matches at Boston over the weekend.

The mini Red team, consisting of Oliver Anderson, Toby Cullen, Jack Street and Jack Butler, faced Horncastle and played some outstanding tennis as individuals, and as a team in the doubles. It was a tough game but they battled well and managed to get a draw.

The mini Orange team were Jake Cullen and Elliott Fisher also played some amazing tennis, managing to thrash the Horncastle side without dropping a match. Both players thoroughly enjoyed the match and were looking forward to the next one in a week’s time.

The mini Green team comprised Jake Gibbons and Heidi-Louise Roberts and also took on Horncastle Green. Both players enjoyed their matches and had a great time playing, but unfortunately they lost 4-1, although the scoreline did not reflect the closeness of the matches.

l The lady veterans’ second team travelled to Spalding to play Spalding 2nd. Despite the torrential downpour, the team consisting of Janet Ibberson, Pam Aust, Jo Jones and Sheena Gordine managed to get the match played quickly by defeating the Spalding side eight sets to nil.

Grantham’s mixed indoor third team met Burton Joyce 2nd at Nottingham Tennis Centre. The team, captained by Rob Isaac, comprised Colin Walton, Barry Priestley, Jo Jones and Megan Jones played some great tennis but the Burton Joyce side were just too strong, narrowly winning the match in the last rubbers.
