TENNIS: Grantham mixed team edge victory over West Bridgford

Grantham Tennis Club’s Nottingham Indoor League first mixed team played on Sunday evening.

The team of Michael and Richard Cragg and Cerys and Megan Jones pulled off a tight victory against West Bridgford’s second team, 31 games to 29.

On Sunday, in their final game of the winter season, Grantham men’s senior B team beat Louth 2nd 8-0.

With a record of three wins, one draw and two losses, Grantham are currently top of the table, but games in hand for other teams means they are likely to finish second or third.

Grantham third mixed team played against a strong Burton Joyce 2nd. The team consisted of Rob Isaac, Nigel Birch, Jo Jones and Sue Cox.

In a great battle and a good display of tennis from both sides, the Burton Joyce team edged a 29-26 victory.

Grantham’s veteran first team played at home to a strong Grimsby first team.

Rob Isaac and Nigel Birch, and Karel Muewissen and John Quinn were able to win the match comfortably, 7-1.

Grantham As played the Bs at the weekend. The A team consisted of Josh Harris, Hugo Dunn, James Timms and Toby Cullen, whilst the Bs were Bethany Aust, Alfie Cooper, Ted Robson and Marc Blake.

After some very close matches, the overall score was 7-1 to the A team, who are top of the league.

Comprising Leon De Raco, Luke Cullen and Hugo Dunn, Orange A team played the Orange Bs of Josh Harris, Toby Cullen and James Timms.

Orange A managed to win 8-1 after some very close matches and a great performance from both sides.

Grantham A Green team played at home to Grantham Green B.

As consisted of Harry Chambers, Luke Cullen and Leon De Roca, and the Bs were Harry Sanderson, Ava Holt and Charlie Morley.

After a good display of tennis, the A team managed to clinch victory, 8-1.
