Grantham Tennis Club men’s second team of Paul White, Darren Taxis, Richard Smart, Alistair Le Bas, Joe Paton and Aiden Wright entertained Notts Castle in Division Two of the Notts County League.
A good start saw the first round of matches end four sets to two and with a drawn second round of sets, Grantham needed to halve the last three matches to secure victory and they ended the match comfortable 11-7 winners.
The men’s fourth summer team lost 7-11 in very damp conditions with a side consisting of Rob Isaac, Olly Tagg, David Dowty, Barry Priestley, David Todd, and John Walker.
It was not the best way to end their season but they remain in the same division for next year.
Grantham men’s third team travelled away to Woodhall Spa last weekend with a strong side comprising of Colin Walton, Rob Start, Joe Patton, Martin Garrett, Adam Tapson and Nigel Birch.
A great 8-1 win in their last game of the season meant they retained their 100 per cent win record in the league.
However, unfortunately, the Grantham side were unable to field a team the week before, lost points and consequently lost out on promotion into the higher division.
