TENNIS: Grantham thirds triumph indoors at home

Grantham Tennis Club men’s third string indoor team hosted Keyworth in what turned out to be a very comfortable win for the home side at the weekend.

The team, consisting of Neil Robertson, captain Rob Isaac, Barry Priestley, David Blanchard, Simon Cook and Richard Clarke, played well which was reflected in the 15 sets to three scoreline (104 games to 53).

Grantham men’s first team also played at home against Boston. Captained by an injured Paul White, the team comprised Richard Surtees, Simon Cormor, Richard Cragg, Darren Taxis, Jonathan Cummins and Richard Smart.

They played very well and needed to, as Boston side fielded a strong side as expected. With the match at an end, the home side were pleased to find themselves coming out 7-2 winners.

Grantham’s mixed second team took on a very strong Caunton side. Captained by Pam Aust, the team of Dom Newcombe, Sally Walker, Simon Cormor, Liz Isles and Paul Kimberley played to a high standard which brought them a 12-6 victory.
