Grantham Tennis Club’s weekend started well with the Mini Green (10-and-under) team travelling to Caunton to face Welbeck Wizards.

The team, comprising Madison Cook, Jamie Collier and James Blake, won 8-1 overall to take their record to two out of two for the season.

The men’s second winter team faced Magdala C at home and won comfortably with the team of Daniel Mole, Mark Ottey, Nigel Birch, Martin Garrett, Adam Bramley and Colin Walton.

The mixed third winter team travelled to Southwell with the team of Paul Kennedy, Janet Ibberson, Laura Dixon, Johnny Ng, Pam Aust and Mike Roys, and also won convincingly.

The ladies’ first veterans team faced Bourne away. Lianne Tapson, Liz Isles, Liz Frobisher and Wendy Stewart fought hard but ultimately lost seven sets to one.

The first men’s veterans team lost at a very good Boston side. The team comprised Barry Priestly, David Todd, Paul Kennedy and Harry Larkin.
