Grantham Tennis Club men’s first team had another successful weekend in the Nottinghamshire Winter League.
Playing against Keyworth at home in blustery conditions, Grantham fielded a strong team.
Getting off to a flyer the Grantham’s 1st pair of Cragg and Taxis ensured a comfortable 11-1 first round win ably followed by Isaac and White mixing youth and experience to win 10-2 and Cummins and Drennan also winning 8-4.
The second round went the same way with Grantham building an unassailable lead before closing the match out and winning comfortably 82 games to 26.
Team captain Paul White said “The mens first team have now won all 4 of their Notts Winter League matches and with 2 matches to go this month have high hope for a successful end to the winter campaign.”

l Grantham men’s fourth team played away at the weekend to Friesland, taking on their first team.
The Grantham men involved in the match were skipper David Todd, Barry Priestley, Matt Street, Peter Elphick, Dale Wright and Simeon Cook.
On the warmest day of the year so far, the men suffered their first defeat in the league, going down 64-44 in a close match, with Friesland eventually proving strongest on the day.
l Grantham ladies’ winter second team continued their winning streak when they played East Bridgford at home on Sunday.
The weather was fantastic, with the sun shining on to the artificial grass courts
