A TEAM from Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School have become Lincolnshire Schools Volleyball Under-16 champions.
The team, comprising Laura Graves, Melissa Moreton, Mollie Zalas and Sophie Eldred, scored a maximum 50 points in the county finals at Boston, where they came up against stiff opposition from home side Giles Academy, but emerged victorious.
KGGS qualified for the finals after entering three teams in South West Lincolnshire School Sport Partnership’s first ever volleyball tournament earlier in January. Their first team cruised through each round, winning seven out of eight matches to guarantee themselves a place in the county event. The qualifying team was made up of Laura Graves, Michelle Ison, Melissa Moreton, Mollie Zalas and Susie Gill.
Priory Ruskin Academy finished as runners-up and also qualified for the Lincs finals competition.
