Girl players from Grantham Water Polo Club have been selected to play for the East Midlands regional team.

The players invited to attend regional trials in Nottingham recently, the results of which were that 11 girls were selected for the East Midlands. Ten girls will go into the squad of 13, with another as first reserve.

They will now represent the region in the Amateur Swimming Association Inter-Regional Academy Girls’ Championship at Walsall Gala Baths this weekend. This is a national tournament with 11 teams entered from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

Grantham Water Polo Club committee member Yvonne Coyle said “The club is extremely pleased and proud to be fielding such a large number of talented girl players in this national competition. We wish the team every success.”
