WATER POLO: Grantham club teams enjoy some success

Grantham Water Polo Club juniors have seen their fair share of action and success of late.

The club fielded two teams in the East Midlands ASA Tournament at Loughborough.

Grantham Ladders finished second behind South Derbyshire. The last game of the day was the highlight of the tournament and saw the Ladders defeated 6-5 by the tournament winners, with a goal at the final whistle. Grantham Snakes finished sixth.

The club also fielded two teams in a tournament at the University of Nottingham, with Grantham A emerging victorious.

They beat Northampton 8-1, Hinckley 12-0, South Derby and Hucknall 8-0, Nottingham Leander 2-1, Southwell 5-1, Grantham B 7-0, and Southwell 5-0 in the final.

Coached by Dave Lord, the A team comprised Cameron Terry, India Wilkinson, Cameron Manderfield, Cameron Chow, Noah Clegg, Georgia Coyle, Thomas Cotton, Harry Fowler and Jack Marshall.

In the same match, Grantham B lost 2-1 to Northampton, won 3-2 over South Derby and Hucknall, lost 3-1 to Nottingham Leader, won 3-2 against Hinckley, lost 2-1 to Southwell, 7-0 to Grantham A, and won 4-2 over South Derby and Hucknall in a play-off.

Coached by Conor Coyle, the B team were Charlotte Woodward, Ellie Kirke, Katie Knott, Amelia Peters, Jack Squires, Richard Eareley, James Pearson, Amelia Stewart and Ben Garment.
