Two teams from Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School contested the semi-finals of the ESSA competition at Warwick last week.
Despite some of their under-14s making their competive debut, the KGGS team went undefeated to take them into the national finals later this month.
They recorded victories over Liverpool (4-1), St Mary’s (5-2), Kings Warwick (2-1) and Manchester (3-2). They scored in the first five seconds against Liverpool and that set the tone for the remainder of the games. Goal scorers were Wilkinson (2), Robinson (5), Kate, Bosworth (3) and Bitowt (3).
The under-16s KGGS side started well with a 4-1 victory over Warwick but deferred to the more experienced sides of Manchester and St Mary’s later in the day.
KGGS under-14s are: Harriet Underwood, Katie Knott, Ellie Robinson, Ellie Kirke, Kate Davis-Bavin, Rose Bitowt, Georgia Coyle, Naya Patel, Giorgia Bosworth, Charlotte Woodward, Lily Jackson, India Wilkinson, Sian Jolly and coach Conor Coyle.
