MOTORCYCLING: South Witham’s classic biker Kinning is back on track
Classic biker Ryan Kinning returned to the track for the first time this season at Mallory Park last Sunday.
It was the South Witham rider’s first time on his new Suzuki Golden Era Superbike too.
Qualifying went well and Ryan rode to fourth place on the grid.
But the team were forced to make some drastic changes to the gearing on the bike, as it was causing damage to the swing arm.
Ryan said: “This made the bike feel and ride completely different.”
Nevertheless, he made a good start in the first race but after a couple of laps, his tyres started to go off which made it very hard for him to try and push on and gain places. He ended the race in a commendable third position.
Prior to the second race, the team replaced the tyres and altered the suspension and Ryan took the runners-up spot in race two and first place in the final race.
Ryan said: “This has really boosted my confidence on the superbike and I cannot wait to be racing in two weeks time at Donington Park for ARB Racing on their GSCR1000 endurance superbike. I now have a better understanding of setting up and racing a superbike. Myself and the team are thrilled with the outcome.”
Team principal Hunni Hindley praised Ryan’s efforts and said he had given 100 per cent commitment throughout the day: “His racecraft and skill has really come on in the past 18 months and his talent is really starting to show.
Ryan expressed this thanks to Alan from sponsor Eclipse Digital Solutions and Hunni for their support.
Ryan could still do with some more financial backing. If you are interested, contact Maria on 07762 099495 for a sponsorship package.
