WITHAM Wheelers life member Rod Elllingworth is on the Great Britain endurance coaching team that helped Bradley Wiggins to his fourth career Olympic gold on Wednesday afternoon.
Wiggins powered his way to victory in London, finishing in 50min 39.54sec ahead of Germany’s Tony Martin and GB team-mate and bronze medallist Chris Froome.
The link between Grantham’s Rod and Wiggins goes back to when he was coaching the GB track team.
Wiggins has since transferred to road riding for Team Sky with whom Rod is also a performance coach.
The Olympic success comes after Wiggins’ historic Tour de France victory last Sunday.
