Kate Davis-Bavin will captain her country at the Junior Touch Championships in the Netherlands.

Action in Arnhem begins today, and Kate is hoping her England under 18s side can go one better than last-year’s runners-up spot.

Wales just pipped their old foes to the title in Nottingham, but now the England team are out for revenge.

“The big one is Wales, and I’m really looking forward to that one,” 16-year-old Kate (pictured) told The Journal.

“They’re our biggest rivals so that’s the game we really want to win.”

Kate, who lives in Grantham and plays for Nottingham Touch Club, says she was honoured to be named captain, but was quick to point out individual honours weren’t her main priority.

“I found out on Saturday and it was a bit of a shock,” she said.

“Touch is very team oriented, so we all have to be on the same wavelength and do our own jobs.”

The tournament will conclude on Sunday.
