Midlands League 4

East (North)

Bingham 0

Amber Valley 12

Playing into the wind, Bingham made a solid start but high flying Amber Valley took first blood on 10 minutes after a catch and drive.

A period of good possession followed and a terrific tackle from Tom Crosse closed the door firmly on another visitors’ attack. But the good work was undone when the home side lost a scrum 15m out and the Valley back line reacted quicker to the ball to extend the lead to 12-0 on 25 minutes.

After the break proved a different matter and, with the wind at their backs, Bingham were able to play most of the period in the Valley half, but determined defence denied them crossing the line.

Bingham went close several times, gaining penalties but then running or going to the corner looking to get the bonus point.

Despite the defeat, it was still a great performance against opposition looking to head straight back to Midlands 3, as Bingham seek to ensure they remain in Midlands 4.
