KING’S School’s sevens season started with a bang with tournament victories and some notable scalps. The senior side enjoyed two runners-up spots in tournaments at Sheffield and Newark, beating national Daily Mail finalists Oakham School along the way. They will hope to go one better in next week’s ounty competition.
The under-14s had a week to remember when they swept all-comers aside en route to claiming the county title for the second year running. Rory Thomson, Phil Fletcher and Taylor Bowers led the way as King’s went through the whole tournament without conceding a point.
The under-13s also bought back silverware as they continued their fine run of form. Victories over Nottingham High School and Bedford were followed by a 56-0 thrashing of local rivals Carres Grammar in the Plate final.
But it was King’s School under-16s who stole the show, enjoying victories over schools such as Bradford Grammar, Oakham School and Solihull School to win tournaments at both Leicester Grammar and Nottingham High School. Kesteven players Kieran Taylor and Cameron Hudson have proved too hot to handle and the team have yet to lose a game.
