A single second-half goal was enough to give the Gingerbreads the win over Frickley Athletic on Easter Monday.

The two sides battled out a war of attrition for the first 45 minutes, with a goalless stalemate probably representative of the balance of the first half.

The second period was a slightly more pacier affair, but still neither side particularly looked like scoring.

Then, in the 70th minute and out of the blue, Dylan Burns soloed his way through the visitors’ defence and curled a left footed shot beautifully past flailing goalkeeper Sebastion Malkowski and into the top corner of the net.

Half-chances sprinkled the remaining 20 minutes but Grantham held on take another useful three points.

Grantham Town: Turner, Meadows, Storey, Hollingsworth (Browne, 82), Galinski, Carr, Burns, Lewis, Shaw, Ryan (Bilyk, 90+1), Emmott (Harris, 62). Subs not used: Beckett. Att: 241.
