Skipper Sam sweeps the board at Grantham Town FC awards

Grantham Town’s annual awards presentation took place at the MCS Centre on Friday night and saw Sam Purcicoe scoop up all the player accolades.

Club captain Sam made a clean sweep, taking the manager’s player of the year, supporters’ player and players’ player awards.

Gingerbreads chief executive officer Keith Horton said Sam’s awards were a credit to his hard work and commitment to the club throughout the season.

Mr Horton said: “When so many left the club last October/November, Sam, being the true professional that he is, remained and contributed to our success both on and off the field.”

Grantham Town president Roger Booth made a presentation to Dick and Jose Short for all their work in the boardroom over the season.

Tony Charles picked up the George and Marge Freeston Award for clubman of the year, in recognition of his years of fundraising and support.

A presentation was also made from the supporters, and in particular Tony and Paul (Charlie) Charles, to CEO Keith Horton and his wife Sandra for their contribution to the success of the club.
