Grantham table tennis ace Olivia Churchill competed against the best young players in England at the Junior Masters tournament.

Seventeen-year-old Olivia was up against 11 other top-ranked English girls, with competitors meeting each other once in a round-robin format.

The Kevesten and Sleaford High School Selective Academy pupil was the fifth seed for the event in Harlow and won three of her 11 matches to finish in ninth place.

The event was won by national junior champion Maria Tsaptsinos who won all 11 matches without dropping a set.

Olivia, a member of Cliffedale Chandlers Table Tennis Club, said: “I haven’t done as well as I’d hoped. I had quite a few close games but I found it hard to close them down.”
