That early success saw the B team go on to be undefeated for the rest of the day after claiming three 6-0 wins over West Bridgford Blues, Sycamore Yellow and Burton Uxbridge, plus 4-2 victory over Sycamore Green.

Chandlers A recovered after the surprise defeat to the B Team, going the rest of the day undefeated with 6-0 wins over West Bridgford Blues and Burton Uxbridge plus two 5-1 victories over Sycamore’s Yellow and Green teams.

In Division Three, Chandlers C swept aside the opposition to lift the title, beating Burton Uxbridge, West Bridgford Whites and their younger clubmates in Chandlers D, 6-0. They also recorded a 5-1 victory over Draycott B and beat Corby Smash 4-2 to claim the title.

Chandlers D, made up of some of the younger members of the club, performed admirably and gained valuable competition experience. Losing 4-2 to both Corby Smash and Draycott B before a draw against West Bridgford Whites and a 4-2 victory over Burton Uxbridge saw the youngsters finish the campaign in fifth place.

The players from all four teams were well supported, especially considering it was Mother’s Day, but there were a lot of proud mums going home after the day had ended.

l Cliffedale Chandlers hold sessions at The Meres leisure centre on Tuesday and Friday evenings, starting at 7pm, and also hold a double session on Saturdays at 12 noon. All the sessions are open to all ages and abilities.
