TAE KWON-DO: Grantham and Corby Glen club members win three national medals

Grantham and Corby Glen Tae Kwon-Do Club brought home three trophies from the TAGB English Championships last weekend.

Improving on his performance last year, when he achieved bronze, fifth degree black belt Daniel Pearce lifted silver this time with a fine performance in the men’s higher black belt patterns division.

Blue belt student Hayden Marshall achieved bronze in the men’s sparring and silver in the men’s blue belt patterns division.

The event attracted more than 1,500 competitiors and was held at the University of Worcester Arena.

The next tournament for the club will be the Lincolnshire County Tae Kwon-Do Championships, held at The Meres leisure centre in May.

At the recent club promotion grading, under the guidance of Grandmaster David Oliver, ninth degree black belt, local students results were as follows:

1st Kup Red Belt – Philip Lee; 3rd Kup Blue Belt – Charlotte Lee, Yashodha Silva; 4th Kup Blue Belt – Aaron Daly-Lines, Rebecca Fields, Angran Yue, Zoe Green, Yixin Xie, Thomas Bartle; 5th Kup Green Belt – Viidhu Silva, Jennifer Groves, Joshua McKenna; 6th Kup Green Belt – Steven Evans, Ethan Hague-Wright, Bernard Dakins; 7th Kup Yellow Belt – Finlay McLachlan, Sammy Zakaria, James Williams, Thomas Welsh; 8th Kup Yellow Belt – Frankie Newton, Alice Evans, Lisa Jackman; 9th Kup White Belt – Finlay Drayton, Paige Williams, Daniel Tyler, Peter Rajesh, Alex Sheldon, India Lee.
