Grantham Tennis Club 18-and-under team’s Autumn junior match was a semi-final in the league, with the Grantham boys playing away at Rustons in Lincoln at the weekend.

The team consisted of Michael Cragg, Joe Patton, Lewis Picker and Adam Tapson, and displayed a great show of tennis and won comfortably 12-0 to ease through to the final.

The mixed second team played their third match of the season on Sunday, taking on Wollaton in Nottinghamshire.

The team, captained by Rob Start, comprised Liz Stokes, Paul White, Jackie Wilson, Mike Roys and Jo Jones. Despite the windy conditions and the horrible weather, Grantham won comfortably 74-34.

In the Notts Indoor League, a team of Sarah Patton, Megan Jones, Richard Cragg and Paul White battled against a strong West Bridgford side. Grantham were unfortunate in the match and lost on game count back.

Grantham TC ladies’ first team played away to Magdala at the weekend.

In windy conditions, Sarah Patton, Megan Jones, Mel Bloodworth, Mellony Milner, Sophie Fletcher and Sam Parker performed well but were also unfortunate to lose in a very tough match.

Despite such a difficult match for the ladies, they will be quick to put this defeat behind them and look forward to their next match in a few weeks time.
