TENNIS: Grantham men defeated at West Bridgford

Grantham Tennis Club men’s first team travelled to David Lloyd West Bridgford on Sunday.

The team were Thomas White and Richard Cragg, Jon Cummins and Rich Smart, and Paul White and James Drennan, supported by captain John Flemming.

But their efforts were to prove in vain as DL West Bridgford won the match 60-48.

Jeanette Thurland, Laura Dixon, Sue Baxter, Wendy Bland, Katy Dines and Holly Richardson made up the ladies’ second winter team that took on a strong Mapperley Park side at home on Sunday.

The Grantham ladies played some great tennis and managed to comfortably win 69-39, a great result for the team.

Grantham men’s first team travelled to David Lloyd Nottingham to play the last match of the winter season.

In sunny, bright conditions, the team of Richard Cragg and Andrew Isaac, Jon Cummins and Rich Smart, and Paul and Tom White found a way to win, 60 games to 48.

The victory meant that the team will finish either second or third in Nottinghamshire Division One.
