TENNIS: Grantham mixed teams enjoy mixed results

Grantham Tennis Club’s mixed firsts played against David Lloyd Nottingham at the weekend with the team consisting of Paul White and Sophie Fletcher, Andrew Isaac and Megan Jones, and Richard Cragg and Sam Parker.

The Grantham side finished the match with a comfortable 7-1 victory; a very good win for the Grantham side.

The mixed third team played at home to a strong Caunton side last weekend. The team comprised Martin Garratt and Mark Ottey, Nigel Birch and Adam Tapson, and Ben Cullen and Joe Patton, and played well with the result also in their favour.

But the mixed fourths lost their first match of the season, 62 games to 46, at home to Ravenshead who they pipped for promotion last year.

The team were Paul Kennedy and Katy Dines, Martin Garratt and Elaine Pulfree, and David Todd and Lorraine Walton.

Grantham’s under-12 girls played against a strong Rustons side at the weekend.

The team consisted of Christie Halton and Martha Patton.

After the singles, the match was tied 1-1 with Martha winning her singles and Christie narrowly missing out.

The girls took victory when they triumphed in the deciding doubles match.
