Grantham Tennis Club men’s second team travelled to Woodthorpe TC last weekend to play one of their two remaining summer matches – needing to win to avoid relegation.

With Woodthorpe having been relegated from Division One to Division Two last summer, victory for Grantham was always going to be a tough ask.

Grantham’s team consisted of Rob Start, Phil Lawton, Paul White, Tom White, Michael Cragg and debutant Aaron Jones, and they managed to triumph 15-3.

And Aaron’s previous team tennis was for the fifth team, so this was a big step up for the junior tennis player.
