Promotion was already secured for Grantham Tennis Club ladies’ veteran first team but they were also still able to clinch the Division Two title.

Grantham hosted St James at home for their final match of the Lincolnshire Winter League on Saturday and emerged triumphant to win the league in a very good all-round display.

The team consisted of Melanie Bloodworth and Pam Aust, who had a very good day, winning 6-0 6-0 and 6-0 6-1, and Liz Frobisher and Veronica Stephens who triumphed 6-1 6-3 and 6-4 6-3.

Although they look a strong team, Grantham will truly be put to the test in Division One next season when they will face some seriously strong opposition.
