Grantham Tennis Club travelled to Musters, in Nottingham, for a “must win” match.

Musters was always going to be a tough match but a win for Grantham would mean promotion next season and leave one match left to secure the Nottingham Winter League Division Two title.

A strong and determined side was fielded against a good Musters team and the visitors performed exceptionally well.

The first pairing of Lianne Tapson and Melanie Bloodworth only lost four games out of 36, with Sarah Patton and Megan Jones winning 28 out of 36. Sally White and Sophie Fletcher triumphed in 21 out of 36 games to make an impressive final score of 81-27.

Now successfully promoted into Division One, Grantham’s ladies will be looking for a final victory over Collingham next month to complete a season-long clean sweep and lift the league title.
