TENNIS: Promoted Grantham men lose Aegon match on doubles


Grantham Tennis Club men’s Aegon first team finished their season in the regional division on Sunday.

Already guaranteed promotion to the national division, they drafted in Michael Cragg, but included the usual team of Andrew Issac, Richard Cragg and Jon Cummins. Boston were the opponents and after two rounds the match was tied at 3-3. A shoot-out ensued with Boston edging it in the deciding doubles.

Grantham third mixed team played Grantham fifth mixed, with the former winning 13 sets to five.

The winning team comprised Rob Isaac, Jo Jones, David Blanchard, Jeanette Thurland, Kevin Jones and Pam Aust.

Grantham third mixed team also played David Lloyd West Bridgford and again triumphed 13 sets to five.

The team were Johnny Jago, Jeanette Thurland, Mike Roys, Pam Aust, Kevin Jones and Jo Jones.
