Three members of Belvoir Tri Club competed in the local Tri 3 Duathlon – an informal 3km run, 30km bike and final 3km run.

Commonly known as the Sleaford Duathlon, it is a very friendly event held in the surroundings of Grange Spa in the quiet village of Pointon.

The run section was partly off-road and transition was based in the grounds of Grange Spa, with the bike route leaving from the long drive to go out on one loop before repeating the same 3km run to the finish.

The Belvoir entrants felt it was definitely a race they would do again, and worth it for the friendly reception laid on by Tri3 Club.

Adam Madge did the Belvoir club proud in his debut to duathlon by winning the overall event and setting a new course record. He completed the duathlon in a very impressive time of 1hr 12min, with time splits of 10:49, 49:00 and 11:16.

Adam said: “This was my first duathlon and although we had a foggy start to the race, which made the course extra challenging, I am delighted with my winning result, plus setting a new record is a real confidence boost for my next event.”

Belvoir Tri team-mate Mark Dean said he used the event as good training for the upcoming Robin Hood Off Road Duathlon this weekend.

Mark said: “I haven’t done a duathlon before so wanted to see how I would get on in a smaller event and identify any issues.

“I found the second run the hardest as I got cramp about a mile in which took a lot of effort to run through, but was satisfied with my end times.”

Louise Payne was the only female contestant from Belvoir Tri Club to take part and finished the race in a very respectable time of 1:34.

She said: “Once the fog lifted it was perfect weather conditions for a duathlon. I was more than happy with my run times.”
