A group of Belvoir Tri Club ladies joined 550 others in the Folkworth 15 race on Sunday, an event now in its 27th year and hosted by the Yaxley Running Club in Peterborough.

The Folksworth 15 is an annual race fixture for many triathletes and is a great training run in preparation for upcoming spring events. The route takes in two laps of an undulating course, all on country roads.

With three fairly steep hills on each lap the course is testing, but the hills did not discourage the spirit and determination of Sophie Stanley, Louise Payne, Nikki Carr and Ruth Dunstan.

Sophie was very pleased with her finish time of 1hr 57min which placed her in the top 30 ladies out of 217.

Sophie said: “We had unusual mild conditions and it was very windy in exposed areas, with two laps each with three challenging hills, but it was a very well organised event and well turned out.”

The Belvoir’s celebrated their 100th member joining the club just before Christmas.

Amanda Bishop started a sports events management company in 2014, which runs many successful run, duathlon and triathlon events in the East Midlands area. She said: “I completed my first triathlon a couple of months ago, and since then enjoyed three super sprints, and I am booked onto Outlaw Half 2016. I need to up my game so joined the local Belvoir Triathlon Club.”

A total of Belvoir Tri Club members supported the local parkrun at Belton House on Sunday.

And if they aren’t running in the park, they are pounding the pavements round Grantham with social run and cycle turnouts expanding in numbers. Visit www.belvoirtriclub.co.uk
