WATER POLO: Grantham KGGS girls help Notts side to victory
Five girls from KGGS helped Hucknall ladies to victory in the British Water Polo League Championship Two play-offs at Leeds University last week.
Giorgia Bosworth, Naya Patel, India Wilkinson, Amelia Peters and Rose Bitowt train and play for the Nottinghamshire side and were part of a 13-strong Hucknall squad which played in earlier league matches in Wales, Liverpool and Grantham, to win a place in the prestigious play-off competition.
The Grantham quintet helped Hucknall to three outstanding wins, defeating veteran team English Roses 8-6, City of Birmingham 6-4 and, finally, Manchester Comets 6-4, with Bosworth, Wilkinson and Bitowt each contributing to the scorelines.
Goalkeeper Patel demonstrated some outstanding saves, while Peters shone through with the team tactic of determined defence, harassing Birmingham into poor passes.
The KGGS girls are now looking forward to the English schools competitions in the spring, in which the school took bronze and silver medal positions in 2013 and 2014.
