KGGS under-14s celebrate their national title.

Success in the pool continued with Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School under-14s securing another national championship at Northampton Boys’ School last Tuesday.

Following on from the under-16s’ national success several weeks ago, KGGS brought home the English Schools Swimming Association Under-14 Junior Girls’ Championship title for the school.

The girls cruised through their first two matches, winning 8-1 and 11-0 to top their group comfortably.

An 8-2 semi final win saw them meet a very strong Alleyns team in the final. An extremely hard fought match, in which the girls (Harvey, Coyle, Peters, Knott, Jackson, Barnes, Barnett, Harriet Underwood)) gave their absolute all, secured a 5-4 victory and with it the national title.

Five of the players – Coyle, Peters, Knott, Jackson and Barnett – played in both the under-16 and under-14 competitions and are therefore also double national champions.

KGGS are trained by England Talent coach Jim Caulfield.
