Gonerby Yellows under-12s started the winter season in the Young Elizabethan League, having recently moved from the Newark League and Grantham League.

Gonerby Yellows began in League Four of seven on Saturdays. The transition from playing local football to more competitive football in a better standard league around the Nottinghamshire area has made Gonerby a more competitive team and enjoying

After 10 games in League Four, Gonerby won all of them, achieving a maximum 30 points to become league champions.

Starting the new spring league, Gonerby have been promoted from League Four to League Two in the YEL.

Gonerby joint manager Dale Gilbert said: “The standard of football is great and a good experience

for all involved. Well done to all the players, parents and managers for the support in achieving our league championship.”
