Great Ponton 13

Great Ponton were prevented from scoring in the first 15 minutes by some excellent goal keeping from HBW.

Eventually, it was Owen Devine who broke the deadlock after going on a lone run down the wing and scoring into the top corner. Ayden O’Brien bagged the second after running free from Harry Wing’s free kick.

Man of the match Jaydon Devine scored Ponton’s third and fourth goals as he continually battled through the HBW defence.

Midfielder Connor Hodgkinson got himself on the scoresheet twice before half-time, making it 6-0 going into the break.

Ponton came out in the second half with the same determination as the first.

Barry Harrison scored an early goal from a Jaydon Devine cross and Bobby MacDonald quickly slotted one past the keeper from the left wing, taking Pontons’ tally to eight.

A Hodgkinson corner forced an HBW own goal, before striker O’Brien went on a scoring streak of his own, netting three consecutive goals in 10 minutes.

Hodgkinson completed his hat-trick to make it 13-0 before HBW finally got a goal back with almost the last kick of the game.

Great Ponton: Sweeney-Biffen, Harvey, Tilbury, Wing, Croft, O. Devine, Hodgkinson, J. Devine, MacDonald, Harrison, O’Brien, Bilton, Simmons.
