Steeleye Span celebrate 50 years since Hark The Village Wait at Newark Palace Theatre gig
Folk-rock band Steeleye Span reflect on their remarkable five-decade career in an upcoming concert at the Palace Theatre, Newark.
The band formed in 1969, and by the early 1970s they had released their classic debut album Hark The Village Wait and also two follow ups — Please To See The King and Ten Man Mop.
Five decades on and the band, led as ever by the iconic vocals of Maddy Prior, celebrate 50 years of these famous albums by playing key tracks from all three as well as favourites and gems from their long and glittering career.
They will be at the Palace on Thursday, May 12.
Alongside Maddy Prior (vocals) the current Steeleye Span line-up is long-term member Liam Genockey (drums) Julian Littman (guitar/keyboards and vocals) Andrew Sinclair (guitar) Violeta Vicci (violin and backing vocals) and Roger Carey (bass).
