SOME of the artistic creations being worked on at Grantham Art Club in Manners Street are truly exceptional.

The club will be showcasing some of its finest work in the George Centre tomorrow (September 3) from 9.30am until 4pm with original pieces available to purchase.

The club was set up 15 years ago. It is open to everyone from beginners to professional-standard artists, and attracts a healthy crowd for the Friday evening meetings.

Chairman Barrie Cox said: “We have raw beginners who come along and within six months they are really starting to shine.”

Members of the group pay an annual fee of £12 and £1 per session which goes towards a kitty for the elderly residents of Manners Street, helping them pay for day trips and other events.

Group member Brian Ward said: “I’ve been a member of the club ever since it started. It’s also nice company and a great way to meet people.”

You can go along and view artwork created by the group in the George Centre tomorrow, between 9.30am and 4pm.
