PEOPLE can find out more about the history of the Grantham Canal at an open day.
The ‘discover day’ is organised by the Grantham Canal Society, which mainatins the waterway and is sperheading an ambitious project to restore it.
The event on Sunday, October 7, is based around the Carpenter’s Shop, Woolsthorpe by Belvoir, behind the Rutland Arms (Dirty Duck) at the eastern end of the navigable canal.
Activities will include boat trips and a duck race, as well as other fun events aimed at raising funds for the society’s work.
Refreshments will be available and admission is free to the events, from 10am to 5pm.
