Pride And Prejudice and Jekyll And Hyde launch summer season at Newark Castle
Outdoor productions on summer evenings in the surrounds of Newark Castle are planned over the next few weeks.
Palace In The Castle is launched on Saturday (July 23) with Chapterhouse Theatre’s production of the Jane Austen classic Pride And Prejudice, at 7pm.
Take a step back in time as we meet Elizabeth Bennett and her sisters. While their interfering mother engineers various courtships, Elizabeth and Jane must pursue their own quest for true love.
Amid mistakes and miscommunications, can Elizabeth finally surpass her prejudices to see past the proud exterior of the enigmatic Mr Darcy?
The outdoor drama continues on Thursday, July 28, with Robert Louis Stevenson’s novella Jekyll And Hyde.
While staying true to the original tale, this telling embraces the comedic magic of theatre.
Expect quick costume changes and plenty of sharp wit in this Victorian gothic horror story.
