A COMEDIAN who took to the stage after a spell as a property entrepreneur abroad, headlines the next Funhouse Comedy Club show at the Atrium, Grantham, on Thursday, May 31.

Rhodri Rhys qualified as a chartered surveyor before developing his business in Eastern Europe and his unusual path to a comedy career provides some of the inspiration for his performance.

His act combines sharp wit and observation with a natural geniality, and his material is broad and colourful, also deftly seaming in religion, business, sport and history.

Support comes from the super sharp Gary Delaney. Well known for his taut, brilliant one-liners, he is very much in demand on the comedy circuit.

As well as writing his own material he also finds time to write for TV and Radio including 8 Out of 10 Cats, Mock The Week, Russell Howard’s Good News and Jason Manford’s Comedy Rocks.

The large quantity of his quick-fire gags leaves his audiences struggling to remember them all. Last year his Twitter feed was nominated for a Chortle Award.

Also appearing will be the hilarious Jonny Awsum with his guitar and musical parodies.

Compere for the night is the friendly and energetic Spiky Mike.

Tickets for the date, which takes place upstairs at the bar in Grantham High Street, are £7 in advance. Doors open at 8pm for an 8.30pm start and bookings can be made at at
