Embroidery exhibition to start at Grantham Museum
A new exhibition on embroidery will start next week at Grantham Museum.
It is called ‘Embroidery into the 21st Century’ and starts on Thursday (September 17) . It will continue until the middle of January 2016. There will be examples of how embroidery used to be done and how it is done now. The event features the work of ‘Layers of Stitch’, the Grantham branch of the Embroiderers Guild.
There will be objects to handle and a chance to have a go at stitching. There will also be workshops for adults and children with dates to be announced. In late October there will be a workshop to make a felt Remembrance poppy.
The exhibition is sponsored by Korbond which has provided £200 worth of prizes to be given to the adult and young winners of a stitched postcard competition called ‘Aspects of Grantham’. Visitors will be able to vote for their favourite. The museum is open Thursday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm. Entry is free.
