Unlocked Fest 2021 set to go ahead at Newark Showground with socially distanced format
A nearby festival is set to go ahead later this year with a new socially distanced format in place.
With a detailed roadmap now published, organisers of the aptly named Unlocked Fest have been given the green light to go ahead from June 18 to 20 at Newark Showground.
Socially distanced pods, for up to four or six people will fill the festival’s main arena. Against the backdrop of a huge main stage, on par with what you’d expect at a major festival, it will include a state-of-the-art lighting, sound and video package.
Festival director Steve Yeardsley explained the new format and what festival goers can expect.
He said: “Our priority is to keep everyone absolutely safe whilst delivering an incredible festival.
"We were always going to have more space than you’d normally expect, the intention is for it to feel a bit more luxurious than your average festival hence the playlist vibe to the line-up, artisan food and drinks, spacious campsites, parking nearby etc.…it will be a boutique event set against the backdrop of an amazing stage showcasing great music.
“We’ve been planning for different scenarios ever since we launched Unlocked Fest back in October 2020. With venue and artist availability the least flexible part of our plans, the June 21 date announcement meant transitioning to a socially distanced format was the only real option.
"Festival goers will head to a ‘pod’, essentially a designated area in the arena, when they arrive and that will become their spot for the day. Adjacent pods will be two metres away, so they’ll feel completely safe. We’re also going completely cashless so all payments will be contactless which adds another of safety.”
The three-day event has a line-up crammed full of the UK’s biggest tracks from the 80s, 90s and 00s, performed by a combination of original and tribute artists.
Billed as the ultimate feel good weekender, the festival will bring together a heady mix of well-known headliners, top DJs and tribute acts.
Headliners already confirmed include a unique festival set from the highly acclaimed Ministry of Sound Classical, The Feeling and Inner City. The line-up also features Go West, Space,
Dario G, Craig Charles, Five, Sonique, Phats & Small, Sonia, Republica and Big Brovaz, with many more acts to be announced over the next couple of weeks.
All weekend tickets come complete with free camping, relevant to the ticket type purchased, with prices starting from £561 for a pod for up to four people.
Individual day tickets for Friday, Saturday or Sunday are also available. For news and updates follow @UnlockedFestUK on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter or visit https://www.unlockedfest.co.uk/
