ST Wulfram’s Church will host a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on Sunday.

Following the same format as the televised service held at King’s College in Cambridge each year, the service is a great chance for people to hear the talented choirs of the church.

Director of Music Tim Williams said: “It is great for Grantham that people are able to come to be part of this kind of choral carol service live.”

The service will begin with a soloist singing ‘Once in Royal David’s City’, and will include some favourite carols and readings.

There will also be an exciting range of choral music sung by the combined choirs of St Wulfram’s Church, including settings of ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’ and ‘O Holy Night’.

Dr Williams said: “We are very proud of all that our choristers are achieving at St Wulfram’s.

“Most people don’t see all the work that these musicians of all ages put in week in, week out to train and rehearse to produce high quality choral music.

“Up to 60 people are expected to sing, including around 30 youth choristers. It would be great if lots of people could support them and come and hear them at their best, and also have a chance to reflect on the Christmas story in the days leading up to Christmas.”

The service will take place at 6.30pm.
